Here's a list of frequently asked questions....
Volunteers are the backbone of our club, and we're always on the lookout for more helping hands. There are various roles available, each with its own level of commitment, and you can find detailed information about them here.
Coaches play a pivotal role in shaping our club's ethos. They create the nurturing environment that our swimmers thrive in during training sessions. Currently, we are seeking additional coaches to provide more personalized attention to our swimmers and to accommodate those on our waiting list. Having a larger coaching team would ensure continuity in training sessions even when some coaches are unavailable due to competitions or grading commitments (many of our coaches also serve as judges). Coaching is a fulfilling commitment, and training is provided. If you're interested in becoming a coach, please reach out to our head coach, for more information, or consult Swim England's resources on synchro coaching.
The committee oversees the club's operations and governance, meeting monthly to ensure smooth functioning. We have upcoming openings for roles such as Secretary, Membership Secretary, and Welfare Officer. If you're interested in contributing to the club in any of these capacities, please email via the contact page.
Judges and other officials are essential for grading days and competitions. Currently, many of our judges also serve as coaches, making it challenging to maintain adequate coaching coverage during events. Becoming a judge involves completing a training course and passing an associated test. The commitment involves attending a few grading days and competitions each year.
For grading days and competitions, we often require parent volunteers to assist alongside our trained judges. Tasks may include marshalling swimmers, recording video, or managing score sheets. Our competition secretary will reach out to adults accompanying the swimmers to solicit volunteers for each event. Your help is greatly appreciated, as the number of volunteers we provide can impact the number of swimmers we can enter into an event.
It depends.
